Lilygo t-watch s3 spiffs error
Solving a new error building T-Watch-S3 PlatformIO job
The problem
I have a Lilygo T-Watch-S3 module. Building code using PlatformIO on VSCode was running merrily until today. I got a spurious error message through the serial port that I hadn’t seen before.
E (700) SPIFFS: mount failed, -10025 [ 933][E][SPIFFS.cpp:89] begin(): Mounting SPIFFS failed! Error: -1
The watch hung for about 30s while booting with a message about SPIFFS
The solution
I am using LittleFS now for storing and saving a variable to the flash memory.
Looking in my .pio file I saw this line:
board_build.filesystem = spiffs
Change this to:
board_build.filesystem = littlefs
The error no longer appears and the watch boots quickly. On to the next bug!
Discussion
The factory demo code uses spiffs to store data onto the SPI flash on the t-watch. Now I’m using LittleFS This is set up in the .pio file that I copied from the demo file. That’s how we all get started - copy and edit a demo program. Show that we need to check through and understand what we’re using! I can’t tell you if LittleFS is better than SPIFFS.
Any regular reader of this blog may notice that the first lines of the problem description are the same as the previous blog post. I suspect there will be more of the these with my current project.
